Once Upon an Adventure

Sometimes we make spur of the moment decisions.

Such was our decision to buy plane tickets to visit Beth and Jonathan--our good friends from Seminary who just happen live in Horsham, England--as an excuse to finally go on an adventure. And adventure we did--from Horsham, to London, to Cambridge, to Dublin, to Dingle, to pretty much all over Scotland: Glasgow, the Highlands, Inverness, Loch Ness, the Isle of Skye, and Edinburgh. Did we go in a single castle? Nope. But we put a ton of miles on our rental car, listened to a lot of real-estate investor podcasts, enjoyed great conversation with new folks, listened to local music, and enjoyed some delicious food.

When people ask me to summarize the trip, I don't point to a single moment, a particular place we stayed, or a specific attraction we saw. For me the trip was special because it was all about spending time with my favorite person and what new things we could experience together. It being our first real trip together, we discovered that we do "trips" differently. I am the type who wants to GO all the time, while Jake would prefer to stay in one place and take it all in. Ironic since he was the one who wanted to be sure we hit England, Ireland, and Scotland in our short two week vacation! Still, even as we figured each other out, dealt with our differences, and stomached the inevitable travel-punches, we couldn't help but giggle at the realness of our adventure. Over those two weeks we drove, we walked, we ate, we laughed, and we dreamed.
